Music publishers filed a case on Twitter, demanding Rs 2000 crore for copyright infringement

Copy Right Violation by Twitter: Elon Musk has already given Twitter Blue users the facility to upload up to 2 hours of content on the platform. After the introduction of this service, Blue users are fiercely uploading content on Twitter. Now the National Music Public Association has filed a case on Twitter regarding this and has demanded more than Rs 1 crore per song as compensation.

In fact, a lawsuit has been filed in this regard in the Federal Court of Tennessee State on behalf of 17 music publishers. Music publishers have filed a case saying that Twitter is promoting its business with countless infringing copies of music composers and violating the special rights of publishers and others under copyright law, which is not right at all. NMPA has shared a list of about 1700 songs in its filed lawsuit which have been uploaded on Twitter without permission. The association has asked the court to impose a fine of up to $150,000 for each violation on the micro-blogging platform.

Despite warnings, Twitter-association did not agree

The association also claimed that Twitter was informed about the copyright but the company did not take any action and now different accounts are continuously uploading content which is against the copyright rules. In the petition filed in the court, a song has been mentioned which has more than 2 lakh views. This song is of Barbadian singer Rihanna which had 2,21,000 views and 15,000 likes. Publishers said that Twitter did not take its permission and violated the rules. NMPA has demanded more than Rs 1 crore per song as compensation from the court.

At present, there is no comment on this from Twitter or Elon Musk.
