Patna: Former Deputy Chief Minister and Rajya Sabha member Sushil Kumar Modi said that the BJP and the Prime Minister Narendra Modi Nitish Kumar’s jealousy towards (Narendra Modi) has come down to such a level that he broke the tradition of sending fruits to distinguished persons including the President-Prime Minister by adding political bitterness to the sweetness of Jardalu mango and royal litchi of Bihar. The tradition of sending mango-litchi to central leaders was started by the NDA government in 2007. Due to this, branding of mango-litchi of Bihar was done at the national-international level and the farmers were benefited.

Sushil Kumar Modi said that years of branding was successful that in 2021, 25 thousand tonnes of Zardalu mangoes were exported from India to Britain, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Under Mango Diplomacy, 2500 cartons of mangoes and litchi were sent to VIPs of Delhi-Patna. There should not have been politics on such a sweet practice. This will adversely affect the image of Bihar and the income of the fruit producing farmers here.
