Vegetable Price Hike: The prices of vegetables are skyrocketing in Jabalpur city of Madhya Pradesh. Tomatoes have turned completely red due to rising inflation. Tomatoes are being sold in Jabalpur for up to Rs.100 a kg. Cheap vegetables like bottle gourd and pumpkin are also being sold at Rs 30 to 40 per kg. It is said that the prices of vegetables in Jabalpur have increased by 30% to 40% in the last one week. The biggest increase has been seen in the price of tomatoes. Tomatoes are being sold in the retail market for ₹ 80 to ₹ 100 per kg since 1 week. Local wholesale vegetable seller Javed Raine says that the arrival of tomatoes in the market is very less. Similarly, other vegetables are also coming less, due to which the prices have suddenly increased.

The common man is getting troubled due to rising inflation. Housewife Sandhya Tripathi says that vegetables have made the budget of the house uncontrollable. The vegetables for which ₹ 200 to ₹ 300 had to be spent per day, are now available in the range of ₹ 400 to ₹ 450. He said that the prices of almost all vegetables have increased by 30% to 40%. Different vegetable vendors are offering tomatoes at the rate of ₹ 80 to ₹ 100 per kg.
