Navy chief visited the holy cave of Amarnath, 1 lakh devotees will reach in the first week itself

Amarnath Yatra 2023: On Thursday (July 6), a new batch of more than 10,000 devotees left for the Amarnath Yatra from Baltal and Pahalgam. Officials said that the total number of devotees visiting the holy cave of Amarnath would cross the one lakh mark in a week. For the last two days, about 10-12 thousand pilgrims are visiting the holy cave every day.

Within the first 6 days of Amarnath Yatra 2023, more than 70 thousand people have visited. In which Indian Navy Chief Admiral Radhakrishnan Hari Kumar was also involved. The Amarnath Yatra, which began on July 1, is the first visit to the holy cave by a top official. Confirming the visit, a top Srinagar-based Chinar Corps official said that Admiral Kumar reached the Amarnath cave shrine on Wednesday (July 5) morning.

A batch of 18,354 devotees left on Wednesday
On Wednesday, 18,354 pilgrims left for the Amarnath cave shrine from both Baltal base camp and Nunwan base camp. “These include 12483 men, 5146 women, 457 children, 266 sadhus and 2 sadhvis,” said an official statement.

Meeting with officials of security agencies
“The Navy chief offered prayers at the Amarnath cave shrine and met officials of security agencies monitoring the yatra. The top officer was briefed about the security arrangements for the ongoing yatra and given feedback,” he said.

The official said that during his visit, the Indian Navy chief coordinated with security forces including the Army, Air Force, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), Jammu and Kashmir Police and disaster relief agencies to work towards the safe conduct of the visit. Appreciate the coordination.

Navy chief’s second visit to Kashmir this year
The Navy Chief also appreciated the forces for the humanitarian assistance and relief assistance carried out in collaboration with the civil administration and other security forces in Kashmir. This is the second visit of the Indian Navy Chief to Kashmir this year. The Amarnath Yatra, which lasts for 62 days, will end on 31 August 2023. For this, about 3 lakh 50 thousand people had registered before the start of the yatra.
