Army killed one terrorist in Doda encounter, AK-47 and M-4 rifles recovered, search operation continues

Defense officials said that apart from M4 rifle, an AK 47 has been recovered from the terrorist. He said that the operation is still going on and intermittent firing is going on.

Officials said that security forces and police cordoned off the area and started a joint search operation in search of foreign terrorists hiding in Shivgarh-Assar Patti. Meanwhile, an encounter started between security forces and terrorists in the dense forest area. Captain Deepak Singh was seriously injured in the encounter with the terrorists, after which he was taken to the military hospital, where he breathed his last.

The terrorists had fled to the hills of Doda

Officials said that after a shootout between security forces and terrorists on Tuesday evening (14 August 2024), terrorists entered Doda from the forest near Patnitop in Udhampur district. The presence of terrorists was detected by the security forces around 6 pm on Tuesday evening. An encounter started between them half an hour later. After these encounters, the terrorists fled into the hills of Doda.

In an encounter on 26 June 2024 in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, security forces killed three terrorists, who were suspected to be linked to Pakistan-based terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).

Mehbooba Mufti expressed grief over the death of Captain

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti expressed grief over the death of Captain Deepak Singh. She posted on Instagram and said, “Words cannot describe the tragedy that happened in Doda, where Captain Deepak Singh was martyred during an encounter. Despite the administration’s tall claims of normalcy, the series of violence and destruction in Jammu and Kashmir is taking the lives of innocent people.”
