Safdarjung Hospital Nurses Union Protest: The protest against the rape and murder of a female doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College continues. In Delhi, the Nurses Union also protested against this incident on Thursday (15 August). The Safdarjung Hospital Nurses Union took out a candlelight rally.
During this time, a large number of men and women associated with this profession were present. Some people were holding candles in their hands, while some were protesting against this incident by lighting the torch of their mobile phones. During the protest, the members of the Nurses Union also raised slogans like ‘Stop this atrocity’ and ‘Tanashahi nahi chalegi’ (dictatorship will not work).

Doctors protest at Safdarjung Hospital
Along with this, doctors in Delhi protested peacefully at Safdarjung Hospital in support of the female doctor who was sexually assaulted and murdered in Kolkata.

Delhi Medical Association condemned the incident
On the other hand, the Delhi Medical Association has also strongly condemned the Kolkata doctor murder case. Delhi Medical Association President Alok Bhadari said, “We held an emergency meeting to discuss the issue, in which more than 100 doctors participated. We all have decided to intensify this protest to ensure that the victim gets justice.”
Strike announced from 17 August
Regarding the Kolkata doctor murder and rape case, Dr. Girish Tyagi, the elected president of the association, said, “What happened in West Bengal is sad. We condemn this incident. On August 17, at 6 pm, we will begin a 24-hour strike. For those 24 hours, OPD services, diagnostic centers, however, nursing homes will remain closed.
Girish Tyagi further said, “Emergency services will continue during the strike. We have allowed it to continue keeping in mind the interest of the patients, but in the coming times, if the daughter does not get justice in this movement, then we will also include medical emergency in the strike.”
