How different is the education given in madrassas from schools?

Madrasa Education System: The Supreme Court rejected the order of the Allahabad High Court in which it (the High Court) had struck down the Uttar Pradesh Madrasa Education Board Act and asked the state to admit students in other schools.

The Supreme Court upheld the validity of the Uttar Pradesh Madrassa Education Board Act of 2004 and said that it does not violate the principle of secularism. There are two types of madrassas

First of all, let us tell you that there are two types of madrassas in the country. There are those who run on donations. Apart from this, there are others who get financial help from the government. There is hostel system in madrassas also. The government continuously keeps making changes in the system of madrassas. The government has now also implemented NCERT course in madrassas.

Know the system of madrassas

Generally, education is done on the basis of primary, high school and intermediate and then graduate and post graduation. But in Madrasas, training is given at the level of Tahtania, Faukania and Aliya. In Madrasas, primary schools are called Tahtania, junior high school level education is called Faukaniya. After this Aaliya’s studies take place. In this, Munshi- Maulvi, Aalim, Kamil, Fazil are taught.

Know what subjects are

The first degree in this is that of Munshi/Maulvi. It is generally considered equivalent to high school. After this there is the degree of Alim, which is equivalent to 12th. Similarly, graduation is called Kamil and post graduation is called Fazil.

Apart from religious education, there are other subjects also in madrassas. But the names of these subjects are in Urdu only. For example, from Munshi to Fazil, children learn Hindi, Home Science, General Hindi, Science along with Mutal-e-Hadith, Mutal-e-Mazahib, Funude Adab, Balagat, Mutal-e-Fiqh Islami, Mutal-e- Usule studies Fiqh.

Know how much are the fees

Madrasas have different fees according to the state. If we talk about Uttar Pradesh, here the fee is Rs 170 for Munshi, Rs 230 for Alim, Rs 290 for Kamil and Rs 350 for Fazil. At the same time, girls get exemption in fees.
