Will Mohammed Shami Join Team India for BGT 2024-25: When Team India was announced for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, all eyes were on the name of Mohammed Shami. But Shami’s name was missing in this list. The Border-Gavaskar Trophy of five Test matches between India and Australia is going to start from November 22. Whose first match is to be played in Perth. But after showing excellent performance for Bengal in the Ranji Trophy, news has started coming that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is considering a plan to include Mohammed Shami in the Indian team for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Shami will play in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy
BCCI has currently included Mohammed Shami in the Bengal team for the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy starting from November 23. Bengal’s first match will be against Punjab. The Test series between India and Australia is starting from November 22, which makes it clear that Shami will not be a part of the first Test.

Expected to return in the second test
According to sources, Shami’s return in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy may happen in the second half of the series. The BCCI medical team and selectors want to evaluate Mohammed Shami’s fitness by playing some more competitive matches. The decision to include Shami in the Indian team can be taken on the basis of his performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Selectors do not want to take any risk regarding fitness
The selectors do not want to take the risk of including Shami in the Indian team after a brilliant match in the Ranji Trophy. After recovering from the injury, he had to undergo a long rehabilitation program. This is the reason why the selectors want to see Shami’s fitness in red ball as well as white ball. However, his performance in Ranji proves that he has returned to his form.
