Preparations for a big demonstration in Islamabad for the release of Imran Khan, curfew like situation

Islamabad Under Lockdown: Curfew like situation has been created in view of security in Pakistan’s capital Islamabad on Sunday (November 24) to prevent massive protests over the release of former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan. Imkhan Khan’s supporters and PTI members were planning to gather and demonstrate near the Pakistani Parliament in Islamabad, keeping in mind that the main highway leading to Islamabad has already been blocked.

Apart from this, many other major roads of the city have also been blocked by the Pakistani government through containers, heavy police force and squads of paramilitary forces. At the same time, keeping the demonstration in mind, Islamabad Police and security forces have been deployed with riot control equipment. Whereas mobile phone and internet services have also been suspended in many other cities including Islamabad, Punjab, Rawalpindi.

Islamabad Police issued statement

Islamabad Police issued a statement saying that any kind of public gathering has been banned. At the same time, global internet monitoring organization NetBlocks wrote on Twitter that live metrics have shown that WhatsApp messaging service has been banned in many cities of Pakistan even before the demonstration.

Ali Amin Gandapur appealed to the people

Ali Amin Gandapur, a key aide of Imran Khan and Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has appealed to the people to gather near “D Chowk” at the entrance of the city’s red zone. Ali Amin is going to bring the biggest convoy towards Gandapur Islamabad.

Ali Amin Gandapur said in a video message on Saturday (November 23), “Imran Khan has told us to stay there until all our demands are met.”
