This time the cold will wreak havoc

The Meteorological Department believes that this time we may see more cold outbreaks. There may be a record drop in minimum temperature. Severe winter may start from 15th December. There may be shivering due to cold in UP-Bihar including Delhi-NCR. The effect of which is visible after the rain this week.

How long can it be cold?

The weather department estimates that this time winter may last till February. Its effect may be seen in some parts. In most parts of the country, the minimum and maximum temperatures in winter are expected to be above normal. Weather experts say that due to the absence of La Nina, winter may be warmer than normal in the beginning. La Nina is usually associated with cold but this year it has not arrived yet. However, La Nina may form around January and February 2025, due to which winter may be harsh.

There may be more rain than normal in December

There is a possibility of more than normal rainfall across the country in December. This time the rainfall may be 121% more than the long period average. More than normal rainfall may occur in most parts of the peninsula, West-Central India, East-Central India and some parts of the Northeast. More than normal rainfall i.e. up to 131% of LPA is expected in the southern peninsula of the country. This includes places like Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalaseema, Kerala and South Interior Karnataka in the southern peninsula.
