Trade deal will make American farmers rich, US Secretary’s claim surprised, India also responded

After the announcement of India-US trade deal, the duty on Indian imports has been reduced to 18 percent. Statements of many American leaders have come out regarding this, in which they have praised India. In this context, the statement of US Agriculture Secretary Brook Rollins has also come. He said that this trade deal is expected to boost the export of American agricultural products to the Indian market.

What did the US Agriculture Secretary say?
US Agriculture Secretary Brook Rollins said that rising prices will increase cash flow in rural America. He wrote on Twitter that the new US-India agreement will increase the export of American agricultural products to the huge market of India. He further said that America’s agricultural trade deficit with India in 2024 was $1.3 billion. India’s growing population is an important market for American agricultural products and today’s agreement will go a long way in reducing this deficit.

He shared a post from the White House, which announced that US President Donald Trump on Monday Narendra Modi During which PM Modi agreed to stop buying Russian oil and increase purchases of oil from the US, which will probably also include Venezuela. Trump said that this will help end the war in Ukraine.

India’s stand on agricultural products
Regarding agricultural products, high level sources say that there will be no agreement on Indian agricultural products regarding the India-America trade deal. The government remains firm on its stand regarding agricultural products. There will be no compromise on agriculture and dairy. Indian interests in agriculture and dairy are what they were before, are still there and will continue to be so. Modi government will not compromise with the interests of Indian farmers.

Under this trade agreement, the tariff on Indian goods will be reduced from 25 percent to 18 percent. Trump said that this agreement has come into effect with immediate effect. He further said that out of friendship and respect for Prime Minister Modi and with immediate effect at his request, we have agreed to a trade agreement between the United States and India, under which the United States will impose lower tariffs.

Soon after, Prime Minister Modi welcomed this development and said, “It was great to talk to my dear friend President Trump today. I am happy that now the tariff on ‘Made in India’ products will be reduced to 18 percent. On behalf of the people of India, many thanks to President Trump for this wonderful announcement.”

Emphasizing the broader significance of the agreement, the Prime Minister said, “When two major economies and the world’s largest democracies work together, it benefits the people and opens up many opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation. I look forward to working closely with them to take our partnership to unprecedented heights.”
