In this study, it was found that in people who continued taking aspirin daily, the risk of cancer was reduced by almost half. In this trial that lasted for about 10 years, a dose of 600 mg aspirin was given and the results were so strong that even health guidelines were changed in many countries. After this, a study was also conducted on lower dose i.e. 75 to 100 mg, in which initial indications were found that lower dose can also be equally effective.

Trial conducted on patients

Similarly, another large randomized controlled trial was conducted on 2,980 patients under the leadership of Anna Martling at Karolinska Institute in Sweden. It was found that in people who took aspirin daily after surgery, the risk of cancer recurring was reduced by more than half. This study was published in 2025 and after this, changes were also seen in the medical practice there.

How does aspirin work?
