Ramayana was a part of every home

Let us tell you that the telecast of Ramayana started on Doordarshan in 1987 and this show soon became a part of every household. At that time TV was not in every house, yet people used to gather and watch it. In the show, Arun Govil played Lord Ram, Sunil Lahiri played Lakshman, Deepika Chikhalia played Sita, Arvind Trivedi played Ravana and Dara Singh played Hanuman. All these artists got tremendous recognition from this show and became popular in every household.

‘Ramayana’ became not just a serial, but a show related to people’s faith and emotions. Even during its telecast there was silence on the streets. Even when it was telecasted again during the lockdown in the year 2020, the audience gave it as much love as before.
