It is seen that in India people often consider checking the air in tires as a very small and trivial task. But the Automotive Tire Manufacturers Association has made a shocking revelation in the report.

Let us tell you that according to the report, due to less air in the tires of vehicles, petrol worth more than Rs 4500 crore is being wasted every year in the country. So let us know what is the full news?

42 crore liters of petrol is being wasted

Let us tell you that this has been revealed by ITTAC, the technical branch of ATMA, after examining the tires of more than 1.3 lakh vehicles across the country. According to the survey, about 32% of the vehicles in India are running on 20% less air than their prescribed limit. Whereas 21% vehicles are running at 10 to 20% less pressure. The annual petrol consumption in the country is about 56.77 billion litres. Due to less air in tyres, vehicles have to apply more pressure due to which about 42.57 crore liters of petrol is being lost every year.

Mileage decreases so much

Citing scientific and international studies, the report states that a drop of just 1 PSI in tire pressure reduces the vehicle’s fuel efficiency i.e. mileage by about 0.2 percent. Due to this carelessness of the vehicles running on Indian roads, the overall fuel efficiency of the vehicles in the country is decreasing by 0.75%.

The biggest thing is that this estimate of loss of Rs 4500 crore is only for petrol vehicles, it does not include diesel, CNG or LPG vehicles.
