In such a situation, it is very important to know how to keep yourself and your family safe from these diseases. Let us know complete information about it.
Why is the risk of diseases increasing in Mumbai?
It has been raining heavily in Mumbai for the last few days, due to which there has been waterlogging in many parts of the city. According to the report, walking in frozen water increases the risk of leptospirosis among people, especially if they have cuts, wounds or minor scratches on their body. This is the reason why recently BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) has issued a warning and appealed to the people to protect themselves from these diseases.
The reason behind taking this matter seriously is its increasing figures. Let us tell you that according to last year’s data, in the last weeks of July, a sharp increase of about 58 percent in dengue cases and about 79 percent in leptospirosis cases was seen. This year too, there is a danger of a similar situation occurring during the monsoon.
BMC’s preparation and caution advice
Along with alerting people, BMC had started a big campaign to deal with this problem even before the monsoon. In which the pesticide department of the corporation visited different parts of the city thousands of times in a few months and got fogging done around more than 30 lakh houses, so that the places where mosquitoes breed could be eliminated.
Despite this, the Health Department has appealed to the people that those who have passed through accumulated rain water or mud, they should consult a doctor within 24 to 72 hours. The department also said that during the monsoon Season Fever should not be ignored. In such a situation, instead of taking home remedies, they should immediately contact a doctor.
