The East Turkistan government-in-exile has strongly criticized the recent talks between China and Türkiye. Türkiye is increasing its security cooperation with China at the expense of the Uyghur and other Turkic communities in East Turkistan, the East Turkistan government-in-exile alleges. China got Türkiye’s support on ‘One China’ policy

According to China’s Foreign Ministry, China and Türkiye have agreed to strengthen cooperation in areas such as law enforcement and security. During this, Turkey also reiterated its commitment to the ‘One China’ policy. Also confirmed that Turkish territory will not be used against China’s ‘sovereignty, security and territorial integrity’.

Exiled East Turkestan government talks about Türkiye’s deception

Responding to Turkey and China’s overtures, the East Turkestan government-in-exile said in a statement posted on Twitter that the negotiations are another step in a decades-long betrayal of the Uighurs, Kyrgyz, Kazakhs and other Turkic peoples. According to the allegation of the exiled East Turkistan government, the people of the Uyghur community are becoming victims of China’s genocide and colonial occupation in East Turkistan.

Have requested Turkey to become the voice of East Turkistan

The government-in-exile also said its Foreign and Security Minister, Saleh Hudayar, had recently met with Turkey’s Deputy Foreign Minister Levent Gumruk following an event organized by the Atlantic Council. According to reports, in this meeting Saleh Hudayar urged Turkey to become the voice of East Turkistan and end its intelligence and security cooperation with China. According to the claims of the exiled East Turkistan Government, this cooperation has been going on since 1996.

‘East Turkestan is the motherland of the Turkish people’

The East Turkestan government-in-exile argued that East Turkestan was the homeland of the Turkic people. China invaded the region in the late 1940s, occupying Independent East Turkistan. The exiled East Turkistan government said, ‘This is not diplomacy. This is complicity in crime. At the same time, it also alleged that Turkey’s long-standing cooperation with China has encouraged surveillance and repression of East Turkistan’s independence movement.
