CM Omar’s big attack on Mehbooba Mufti, said- apologize to Kashmir

Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah has made a big attack on PDP President Mehbooba Mufti’s statement on Jantar Mantar. In this statement, Mehbooba had justified the use of pellet guns on the protesters in Kashmir and said that this was bound to happen in Kashmir because there were militants on one side. Omar Abdullah demanded that Mehbooba Mufti publicly apologize to the people of Jammu and Kashmir for this statement.

Omar Abdullah said that Mehbooba Mufti’s statement is proof that she had joined the student protests not for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, but to further her political career. He accused Mehbooba of adopting a contradictory stance and later trying to end the controversy by calling the viral video AI-generated.

Omar launched a scathing attack on Mehbooba Mufti

Omar Abdullah said, “She did not go to Jantar Mantar for Jammu and Kashmir. She knows better why she went there and can answer it herself. But what she said there to justify alleged abuse of power, arrests and other actions by arguing that there is militancy in Kashmir raises serious questions.”

Omar Abdullah raised questions on Mehbooba Mufti’s statement and said that by justifying the use of pellet guns in Kashmir, she has termed every Kashmiri as a terrorist. Omar Abdullah said, “Does the existence of militancy mean that the rule of law should not be implemented here? Does it mean that children should not get justice? Does it mean that people’s passports should be stopped? I do not understand this logic.”

He also said that the PDP President has a habit of trying to do more than her capacity because she has always done double politics. Referring to his old “milk and toffee” statement on street protests in Kashmir, he said, “His old habit of saying one thing in Delhi and another in Kashmir has still not gone. But when he realized that what he said was wrong and people did not accept it, he apologised.”

PDP gave clarification on Mehbooba Mufti’s statement

In response to increasing political pressure, leaders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), including Waheed Parra, have defended Mufti. He claims that the opposing parties are sharing wrong or edited versions of the video. PDP says that his words were presented out of context. The party argues that she was only pointing out how the central government normalizes strict action in Kashmir by using the excuse of militancy. A strict culture that unfortunately is now spreading to students in the rest of India.

CM also criticized PDP MLA

Omar Abdullah also criticized PDP MLA Waheed Para. Who had claimed that the statement has been changed and it has been made by AI and not by Mehbooba Mufti. Omar said that apologizing for a wrong statement does not diminish the dignity of a leader. Omar said, “There is no harm in admitting a mistake. Instead of later claiming through an MLA that the video was made by AI, he should have just admitted his words. The entire media was present there.”

Omar Abdullah said that Mehbooba Mufti never apologized for the alliance with BJP in 2015. Omar said, “Leave alone an apology, she has never expressed any regret over the events of 2016. She has repeatedly tried to justify the ‘milk and toffee’ thing, and now she has gone even further by saying ‘it is right’.”

Questions raised on army action in Kashmir Valley

Omar Abdullah also raised questions on the strict action taken by the security forces in the Kashmir Valley after the Anantnag attack, in which more than 3500 people were detained. He said that such actions create resentment among the public and local leaders should also oppose such actions of the security apparatus.

Omar Abdullah said, “This is the real issue. Yet Mehbooba Mufti says that such actions are right. What can we say when responsible leaders are ready to ignore these things… If we speak here against such actions, but our own senior leaders go to the national capital and say that these are right, then obviously such actions will continue. This is the real problem.”

He further said that there is no use in coming back here later and criticizing these actions. Omar said, “The place to protest was Jantar Mantar, where the entire country’s media was present and the country’s attention was focused there.”

What did CM Omar say on Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation?

After tremendous protest by students on NEET issue Dharmendra On Pradhan’s resignation, Omar Abdullah said that the credit for the victory goes to the students and not to the minister who tried to justify his resignation by claiming “student welfare”. He said, “If he had to resign, he should have done so earlier. There was no reason to wait for 10, 15, 20 or 25 days.”

He said, “The circumstances mentioned in his resignation letter had been going on for about a month.” Umar further said that now everyone is trying to take credit for it. As I have said earlier, many people will claim credit for his resignation. There are many claimants to success, whereas failure is an orphan. But the real credit goes to those students who refused to back down and stood firm on their demands.”
