After the violence and law and order related incidents during the protest in Chapra on July 25, Saran Police has intensified the action. Police have so far registered four FIRs, in which 186 people have been named and about 2500 unidentified people have been made accused. According to the police, during the investigation, a total of 196 people were detained, interrogated and verified.
On the basis of available video footage, digital and other technical evidence, involvement of 56 people was found and they were arrested and sent to judicial custody. At the same time, due to lack of sufficient evidence against 140 people, they were released on bond. Saran Police has clarified that no action will be taken against any person merely on the basis of suspicion, rumour, viral post on social media or any verbal allegation.

On the matter, the police say that in every case, following the legal procedure, the available video footage, digital evidence, technical evidence and other facts are being thoroughly examined. The investigation is completely evidence based and further action will be taken accordingly.
Police warned of strict action
Police have also said that strict action will be taken as per law against those who find sufficient evidence of their involvement in violent, unruly or other illegal activities. No legal action will be taken against those persons against whom no concrete evidence is available.
Saran Police made this appeal to the students
Saran Police has appealed to peaceful and law abiding students and common citizens not to fall prey to any kind of rumor or confusion. The police have assured that there is no need for the common people to panic, as action is being taken only on the basis of evidence.

The police have also appealed to the people not to believe unconfirmed and misleading information being spread through social media or other mediums and to cooperate with the administration in maintaining law and order. Police say that a fair, transparent and evidence-based investigation is being conducted in the entire matter and all legal procedures will be fully followed in the future.
