Zakir Hussain is the son of the famous late Tabla Badak Allah Rakha Khan. It is noteworthy that he also composed music for many famous Indian and foreign films and played tabla for the films. He was awarded the 51st Grammy Awards in 2009 for his album ‘Global Drum Project’, a collective musical project/effort in the Contemporary World Music Album category. It is noteworthy that Ustad Zakir Hussain was nominated for the Grammy Award 7 times in his career, out of which he received this award four times.
