Cases of Covid-19 have once again been reported in Andhra Pradesh. According to the state health department, Covid-19 infection has been confirmed in a total of 12 people between June 26 and July 16, 2026. Four patients have also died in these cases. However, the health department says that the patients who died were already suffering from many serious diseases. He had high blood pressure, diabetes, kidney problems and other health problems.
Giving information on Friday (July 17, 2026), Secretary of the Department of Health, Medical and Family Welfare and Commissioner of Health and Family Welfare, Veera Pandian said that the first Covid-19 case in the state this year was registered in Cuddapah district on June 26. After this, 11 new cases were reported between July 1 and July 16. Of these, 2 were patients who had previously come in contact with Covid infected people.

According to the Health Department, maximum 8 cases have been found in Cuddapah district. Apart from this, 2 cases have been registered in Guntur district. 1 patient each has been found in Visakhapatnam and Kakinada. The department said that all these cases have come from different areas and no group or cluster of infection has been found at any one place. A total of 67 people were tested for Covid in the state between June 26 and July 15. Of these, the reports of 11 people came positive in the state itself. While one person from Kakinada district was confirmed to have Covid infection during examination at CMC Hospital in Vellore, Tamil Nadu. In this way the total number of infected people in the state became 12.
How many patients are in home isolation?
Among Covid infected patients, three patients from Cuddapah district and one from Kakinada district have died. The Health Department has reiterated that all the deceased had pre-existing serious diseases and were facing health problems for a long time. To further improve the testing of Covid virus, five samples have been sent to the National Institute of Virology (NIV) in Pune on July 9. Genome sequencing of these samples is being done there so that information about the type and nature of the virus can be obtained. Talking about the current situation, 3 patients are in home isolation. Two patients are admitted to the hospital and undergoing treatment. Three patients have completely recovered and have been discharged from the hospital.

The Health Department has appealed to the people not to fall prey to any kind of rumor or fear. According to the department, the situation is under control and is being continuously monitored. All hospitals, doctors and health workers of the state have been instructed to remain alert. Talking about district wise cases, 8 cases have been reported in Cuddapah, 2 in Guntur, 1 in Visakhapatnam and 1 in Kakinada. Thus the total number of cases is 12. Of these, 4 people have died, 3 patients are in home isolation, 2 patients are admitted to the hospital and 3 patients have recovered and returned home.
Covid-19 cases across the country
Covid-19 cases are also being registered across the country. Since July 1, 339 Covid cases have been reported across the country. Maximum 115 cases have been registered in Kerala. After this, 64 cases have been reported in Karnataka, 43 in Maharashtra, 39 in Tamil Nadu, 18 in Andaman and Nicobar, 18 in Delhi and 12 in Rajasthan. Some Covid patients have been found in other states also. Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav has said that the state government is constantly monitoring the situation. He has appealed to the people not to panic, but take necessary precautions and follow the guidelines issued by the Health Department. The government says that at present the situation is under control and the health system is fully prepared.
