305 marks in OMR, only 64 in result! Where to complain about NEET result, will there be re-checking?

NEET OMR Sheet Controversy: Since the release of Re-NEET 2026 result on July 16, complaints are being received continuously regarding the result. Even now this controversy is not showing any signs of stopping. Regarding the result, the students of Madhya Pradesh have approached the concerned High Court, raising questions on their marks. The student claims that on the basis of official OMR sheet and final answer key, his marks are much higher, but in the result released by NTA, very less marks have been given. Meanwhile, many types of questions are arising in the minds of many candidates. In such a situation, let us tell you today that if any kind of discrepancy is seen in the result or OMR sheet, then where to complain and whether re-examination can be done.

Madhya Pradesh student alleges difference of 241 marks

Student Lokendra Singh Khadiya, resident of Jhabua, Madhya Pradesh, has filed a petition in the Madhya Pradesh High Court located in Indore. The student claims that according to the official OMR sheet and final answer key of NTA, he should have got 104 marks in Physics, 125 in Chemistry and 76 marks in Biology. Accordingly, his total marks become 305, but in the result declared on July 16, he has been given only 64 marks, that is, according to him there is a difference of 241 marks. The petition states that when NTA uploaded the OMR sheets on the portal on July 14, the answers to Physics and Chemistry sections appeared blank on the first login. After some time, after logging in again, another OMR sheet appeared in which all the answers were recorded. The student has alleged a technical glitch and a serious error in the process of OMR data processing, evaluation or result preparation.

High Court sought answer from the Center

During the hearing of the case, the Indore bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court has given one week’s time to the Central Government to file its reply. Now the next hearing in this case will be on July 28. In this petition, not only the issue of alleged irregularities in marks has been raised, but the legal and constitutional validity of NTA has also been challenged. The petitioner says that NTA is not a statutory body created by the Parliament, but is a society registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860, hence its legal status should be judicially reviewed.

Where can I complain if something goes wrong?

If a candidate feels that there is a difference between his/her OMR sheet and result, then first of all he/she should re-match his/her marks based on the official OMR sheet and final answer key of NTA. Even after this, if any difference is visible then it is important to keep the relevant documents safe. Whereas NTA accepts the complaints of the candidates through its official grievance redressal mechanism.

Candidates can lodge complaint through the Grievance Portal available on the NTA website. Apart from this, complete information and necessary documents can also be sent on the official email ID of NTA. If this does not resolve the complaint, candidates can also lodge a complaint through the Central Public Grievance Redressal and Monitoring System portal. NTA helpline facility is also available for examinations like NEET, JEE and UGC NET. Where problem can be registered with the application number.

Can the investigation be done again?

If a candidate has documentary proof of difference between OMR sheet, final answer key and score card, he/she can seek independent verification from NTA. In such cases, candidates can request for verification of the evaluation process, OMR data and marks calculation. If a satisfactory response is not received from NTA and the matter affects the admission, then the candidates can also approach the court.
