NTA’s income doubled in 5 years, earned more than Rs 1100 crore from exam

NTA Income 2026: On one hand, the issue of NEET paper leak conducted by NTA is not stopping across the country, on the other hand, a report by the Central Government has once again forced people to think. The income of the National Testing Agency, which conducts medical, engineering and other major entrance examinations across the country, has more than doubled in the last 5 years.

Regarding the income of NTA, the Central Government told in the Parliament that the total income of the agency in the financial year 2019-20 was Rs 504.16 crore, which increased to Rs 1116.84 crore in 2023-24. During the same period, the agency’s expenditure also increased from Rs 440.20 crore to Rs 1040.96 crore. This information was given by Union Minister of State Sukant Majumdar in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha. He said that these figures are based on the income-expenditure accounts of NTA, which have been approved by the governing body of the agency.

How did NTA’s income increase in 5 years?

According to the data revealed in Parliament, NTA’s income remained around Rs 500 crore from 2019-20 to 2021-22. However, after this, there was a big jump in the income of the agency in 2022 and it reached Rs 900.56 crore. In the next year i.e. 2023-24, this figure increased to Rs 1116.84 crore. Similarly the expenses also continued to increase. While the agency’s expenditure in 2019-20 was Rs 440.20 crore, by 2023-24 this figure will increase to Rs 1040.96 crore.

More than 270 examinations since 2018

The central government also told the Parliament that since its establishment in 2018, NTA has conducted more than 270 examinations. A total of more than 6.6 crore candidates registered for these examinations. year 2026 In the year itself, 12 examinations have been conducted in the agency, in which more than 65 lakh candidates have registered.

NTA works with so many employees

According to the government, there are currently 39 permanent posts in NTA and all the posts are filled through deputation. Apart from this, the agency also takes the services of 73 contract employees and 124 outsourced employees, who assist in the conduct of examinations and other tasks across the country. Apart from this, these figures related to the income and expenditure of NTA have come out at a time when the agency is under the scanner regarding the alleged paper leak and examination management in the NEET UG 2026 examination. Students protested across the country regarding this matter and are demanding transparency, accountability and reforms in the examination system.
