With the aim of empowering women in the Norwegian army and making better use of their capabilities, a special forces unit named “Jagertroppen” was formed in 2014. This is the world’s first special forces unit made up entirely of women.

The Norwegian Army created this unit because they felt the need for female soldiers in certain missions and situations.

The female soldiers of the Jägertroppen undergo rigorous training, which is more difficult than that of ordinary soldiers. This includes arctic survival, patrolling, covert operations and combat skills.

These women are made mentally and physically strong so that they can face challenges.

The Norwegian army recruits women soldiers, especially for missions that require female interrogation and liaison. It was initially started as a pilot project.
