Tamil Nadu Theater Owners Association on Tuesday said that they have stopped the screening of the movie ‘The Kerala Story’ from Sunday to maintain law and order in the state. The association also stated the poor collection on the second day as also the reason behind the decision.
According to ANI, Sridhar, Joint Secretary, Tamil Nadu Theater Owners Association, Trichy said, “Due to the film’s (The Kerala Story) poor collection on the second day and to maintain law and order in the state, we stopped screening the film across Tamil Nadu from Sunday. We want to protect our theaters and we also have to think about the interest of the audience.

Narayanan Thirupathy, Vice president, BJP Tamil Nadu, on the film The Kerala Story said, “The Tamil Nadu government which was not able to legally ban the film in the state is trying to remove the film from all theatres. This is condemnable. DMK govt. Due to vote bank politics is not allowing this movie to be screened in the state.”
‘The Kerala Story’, helmed by Sudipto Sen and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah claims to portray the story of some women from the state who were converted to Islam and recruited by terror outfit IS.
Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee decided to ban the film, citing “threat to law and order in the state”.
