James Anderson Returns: It has been just a month since England’s legendary cricketer James Anderson retired. Now he has decided to play cricket again. In fact, he retired from cricket after the Test match against West Indies played at Lord’s ground in July this year. Now he has hinted at playing in England’s domestic cricket league The Hundred.
While discussing on a podcast, James Anderson said that perhaps he still has some cricket left in him. He said, “I think I still have the hunger, I want to play more cricket. As the year progresses, the situation will become more clear. England is going to play 2 series in the winter season, one with Pakistan and the other with New Zealand. I don’t know whether I will be in the role of mentor with the team or not.”

42-year-old Anderson says that when he sees the first 15-20 balls swinging in The Hundred League, he also starts feeling inspired. He said, “When I see the ball swinging in the first 20 balls in The Hundred League, I think that I can do this too. I don’t know if it will be possible for me to do this in white ball cricket. I have never played franchise cricket.”
The last T20 match was played in 2014
James Anderson played his last T20 match in the year 2014. In August 2014, he was seen playing for Lancashire in England’s domestic cricket. If we look at Anderson’s T20 career, he took 41 wickets in 44 matches. But in The Hundred League, an innings consists of only ‘100 balls’. In these matches, more aggressive batting is seen than in T20 cricket.
