‘Don’t know what will happen…’, coup in Bangladesh, PM leaves the country; Pakistan series in trouble

There has been a coup in Bangladesh, due to which Sheikh Hasina has had to leave the country. Amidst this turmoil in politics, the preparations of the Bangladesh Cricket Team have also been deeply affected. Let us tell you that the Bangladesh team has to go on a tour of Pakistan after about 2 weeks, where 2 test matches are to be played between the two teams.

After PM Sheikh Hasina left the country, the army has taken over the command in Bangladesh. Amidst the army rule, an official of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, while talking to Cricbuzz, gave a statement on this matter and said, “We do not know when our cricket team will be able to start practice again because curfew has been imposed here indefinitely. Our management is investigating this matter and when we get more information on the current conditions, we will be able to understand our situation better.”

When is the Bangladesh-Pakistan series to be held?

Bangladesh cricket team’s tour of Pakistan will run from 21 August to 3 September. Meanwhile, two test matches are to be played between the two countries. The first match is to be played in Rawalpindi and the second match in Karachi. There are not even two weeks left in this tour, but the Bangladesh team is not able to prepare due to curfew. Apart from this, the Bangladeshi team is also to come to India in the month of September, where 2 test and 3 T20 matches are to be played between the two teams. At present, nothing can be said about the schedule due to the protests.

Why are there protests?

The protest in Bangladesh is about reservation in government jobs. In fact, 30 percent reservation is given in government jobs to the families of freedom fighters who participated in the independence of Bangladesh in 1971. Students initially started protesting on a small scale against the reservation, but gradually the students took to the streets and in a few days this protest took a violent turn. The matter became more serious when PM Sheikh Hasina refused to meet the demands of the students.
