80 percent of India’s population affected by climate, women and children are most at risk

Climate Related Health Risk: Dr. Soumya Swaminathan, former Chief Scientist of the World Health Organization, has expressed deep concern over the effects of climate change. He said that almost every person in India is now being affected by climate change. In such a situation, there is an urgent need for international cooperation to deal with this problem and to tackle the health problem in the country.

Swaminathan said that children and women are most at risk from climate change related health risks. After he mentioned this, climate change is now affecting practically everyone in India.

More impact on women and children

Let us tell you that the effects being read due to climate change definitely include extreme heat to vector borne diseases. There is a need for immediate cooperation to deal with these problems. Referring to this problem, Swaminathan said that it has a huge impact on women and children, especially in rural areas, women have to depend on solid fuel for cooking and this dependence is causing health hazards. He said that 80% of India’s population is struggling with the effects of climate change. From rural farmers to the urban population, no one is safe.

Climate change is a global problem

Describing air pollution as a problem beyond borders, Swaminathan said that pollution does not recognize boundaries and that is why India and other countries of the world will have to work together to deal with it.
