This is not a normal intoxication, it neither contains alcohol nor drugs. But its health effects can be equally serious and fatal. In this strange habit, some youth take out blood from their own body and inject it again, so that they can feel energy, peace or control for a few moments.

At least five such cases have been reported in Gandhi Medical College since January 2026. All the patients are 18 to 25 years old. Initially the family only notices changes in behaviour, irritability, anger, being alone. But gradually this situation becomes so serious that they have to be taken to a psychiatrist.

Doctors of Hamidia Hospital say that this is a completely different case from traditional drug addiction. There are no signs of alcohol or drugs in these youth. But needle marks are clearly visible on the body. They believe that reinfusing their own blood into their bodies provides instant relief, whereas in reality it is a dangerous mental and physical trap.

According to NDTV report, according to psychiatrist Dr JP Aggarwal, this is a behavioral addiction, not a cure. The brain starts taking this process as a reward. The pain of drawing blood and the feeling that follows gradually becomes a habit. He says it is not about blood, but about the false peace that a person feels.

According to experts, its dangers are very serious. Repeatedly injecting yourself can spread infection in the body. The risk of diseases like sepsis, HIV, hepatitis increases. Apart from this, there is also a risk of nerve damage, blood clots, anemia and even organ failure.
