Do pain killers really damage organs? Know in what quantity is it appropriate to consume them?

Can Painkillers Cause Kidney Damage: As soon as headache, fever or muscle pain occurs, most people resort to pain-reducing medicines. These medicines help reduce pain, fever and swelling and are generally considered safe. But the question is whether their excessive use can harm the body parts? The answer is yes, if they are not taken properly then there can be danger, especially the kidneys are affected.

On which parts of the body does it affect?

According to the report of the National Kidney Foundation, if pain-relieving medicines are taken for a long time or in large quantities, it can affect the ability of the kidneys to function. These medicines affect the blood flow and tissue in the kidneys, which gradually causes damage. For people who already have kidney problems, this risk increases further. This risk may also increase with increasing age.

Caution regarding use

Therefore, it is always important to use these medicines with caution. They should not be consumed for a long time without doctor’s advice. The most important thing is that they should always be taken in minimum quantity and for short period of time. This method helps in keeping the body safe.

Which medicines cause harm?

Among pain-reducing medicines, there are some medicines which are generally considered safe, but they can also have side effects if taken in excessive quantities. While some other medicines reduce both swelling and pain, their long-term use can harm the kidneys. People who have heart disease, high blood pressure or kidney problems should take special caution with such medicines.

To keep the kidneys safe, it is very important to keep some things in mind. While taking medicine, always read the instructions written on its label and take it accordingly. Do not allow dehydration in the body, because lack of water puts extra pressure on the kidneys. Additionally, avoid taking multiple medications at the same time, especially those that contain more than one ingredient.

When should one consult doctors?

If you have to use these medicines for a long time, it is important to consult a doctor. Doctors can find out the condition of the kidneys through blood tests. With a simple test it can be known how well the kidneys are working. Apart from this, early damage can also be detected by testing urine.
