However, WHO researchers say more research is needed on how ampox spreads during outbreaks under different circumstances. The main symptom of ampox is a skin rash that turns into pus-filled sores, which can last for two to four weeks. Symptoms include fever, headache, body aches, sore throat and cough, and lymphadenopathy (swollen lymph nodes). People with ampox are considered contagious until all their sores have crusted over, the scabs fall off and a new layer of skin forms underneath, and all sores on the eyes and body (mouth, throat, eyes, vagina and anus) have healed. The skin rash can vary depending on the type of ampox.

Variola Virus also belongs to this family, which causes smallpox. SARS-COV-2 is a completely new virus, which started spreading in the last years of 2019. Whereas monkeypox has been present among us for decades. Its cases keep appearing sometimes more or less.

High fever, rashes on the skin, starting from the face and spreading to the hands, appearing on the palms and soles.
