Not only dengue and malaria, the risk of these diseases also increases in the rain, know how to prevent them

The rainy season brings pleasant weather with it, but along with it the risk of many diseases also increases. Dengue and malaria are the names commonly heard in this season, but apart from these there are many diseases which spread rapidly during the rains. Therefore, it is very important to take special care of health in this season. Let us know which diseases increase the risk and how we can prevent them.

diseases that increase in rain

  • Viral Fever: Due to changes in temperature and humidity during the rainy season, the risk of viral infection increases. Viral fever can cause problems like high fever, body ache, and weakness.
  • Typhoid: Contaminated water and food are the main causes of typhoid. There is a high possibility of water getting contaminated during rains, which can spread typhoid. Its symptoms include fever, stomach pain and vomiting.
  • Leptospirosis: It is a bacterial infection that occurs due to contact with contaminated water. It causes fever, headache, and muscle pain.
  • Chikungunya: This is also spread by mosquito bites and causes high fever, joint pain and swelling. The effects of chikungunya can last for several months.
  • Skin diseases (fungal infections): Increased humidity during rains increases the risk of fungal skin infections, such as ringworm and athlete’s foot.
  • Jaundice: Contaminated water and food increases the risk of liver infection, which can cause jaundice.
  • Cold and cough: Due to cold and humidity, diseases like cold and cough are more common in this season.

How to prevent these diseases?

  • Take care of cleanliness: Keep your house and surroundings clean. Do not allow water to collect anywhere, as it causes mosquitoes to breed.
  • Drink clean water: Drink water by boiling or filtering it. Contaminated water can cause stomach diseases, so always drink clean water.
  • Protection from mosquitoes: Use mosquito nets to avoid mosquito bites. Use mosquito repellent creams and liquids at home.
  • Do not get wet: After getting wet in the rain, change your clothes immediately and keep yourself dry. Wearing wet clothes increases the risk of cold and other diseases.
  • Eat nutritious food: Include fruits, vegetables and proteins in your diet. This will strengthen your immunity and help you fight diseases.
