Investigation by the Food Department in Karnataka has revealed that Sunset Yellow FCF, Allura Red are being mixed in the cakes collected. Its use is increasing to keep the color of cake good. These colors are carcinogenic agents which can cause cancer.

How dangerous is Sunset Yellow FCF?

Sunset Yellow FCF has been found in the cake sample, which can be extremely dangerous, because it is a synthetic dye, which is used to enhance the color of foods. Many researches have also been done regarding this. This can cause cancer. However, studies by the World Health Organization (WHO) have not found any risk of cancer from Sunset Yellow FCF, but if more chemicals are added to the cake than the prescribed quantity, then it can cause cancer.
