Opposition Party In Patna: The meeting of the opposition held in Bihar’s Patna is over. Aam Aadmi Party convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also participated in this meeting. On Friday (May 23), a statement has come out from AAP’s side regarding the Centre’s ordinance. In which the party has said that the Aam Aadmi Party will not participate in any meeting of the opposition until the stand of the Congress is clear regarding the ordinance.
The AAP further said, “The Congress, a national party that takes a stand on almost all issues, has not yet made its stand on the black ordinance public. However, the Delhi and Punjab units of the Congress have announced that the party will The Modi government should be supported on the issue. Today, during a meeting of like-minded party in Patna, several parties urged the Congress to publicly condemn the black ordinance. However, the Congress refused to do so.”
‘Congress’s silence suspicious’
The Aam Aadmi Party further said, “The silence of the Congress raises doubts about its real intentions. In personal discussions, senior Congress leaders have indicated that their party may informally or formally abstain from voting on it in the Rajya Sabha.” The Congress abstaining from voting on this issue will go a long way in helping the BJP to further its assault on Indian democracy.”
On Congress stand, AAP said, “Congress with 31 Rajya Sabha MPs will have to publicly oppose this bill.” A total of 17 parties participated in the opposition meeting. According to AAP, 11 out of 17 parties have supported the Aam Aadmi Party on the Centre’s ordinance. The AAP said, “Now the time has come for the Congress to decide whether it is standing with the people of Delhi or with the Modi government.”
‘Why Congress hesitated’
The party’s statement further said, “The Black Ordinance is anti-constitutional, anti-federal and completely undemocratic. Moreover, it seeks to overturn the decision of the Hon’ble Supreme Court on the issue and is an insult to the judiciary. Congress’ hesitation and Refusal to act as a team player, especially on this important issue, will make it very difficult for the AAP to be part of any coalition that includes the Congress.”
The AAP said that unless the Congress publicly condemns the black ordinance and announces that all its 31 Rajya Sabha MPs will oppose the ordinance in the Rajya Sabha, it will be difficult for the AAP to participate in future meetings of like-minded parties where Congress is a partner.
