BCCI punished Angkrish Raghuvanshi, confrontation with the umpire was costly; heavy fine imposed

The second match in IPL 2026 was played on Sunday between Lucknow Super Giants and Kolkata Knight Riders. The result of this match came out of super over. KKR defeated Lucknow in the super over. Many exciting moments were seen in the match. KKR wicketkeeper batsman Angkrish Raghuvanshi is in the news. He was out obstructing the field in this match. Raghuvanshi became very angry after being out obstructing the field. He argued with the umpire and while returning to the pavilion, hit the bat on the boundary line and threw his helmet in the dugout. Now action has been taken against Raghuvanshi. He has been given severe punishment.

Angkrish Raghuvanshi has been fined 20 percent of his match fee and one demerit point has also been added to his account for showing anger after being given obstruction of the field. Raghuvanshi has been found guilty of violating the code of conduct during the match against Lucknow (LSG) on Sunday. While returning to the pavilion after the incident that occurred in the fifth over of KKR’s innings, he angrily hit his bat on the boundary line and threw his helmet in the dugout.

IPL said in its statement, “KKR wicketkeeper batsman Angkrish Raghuvanshi Lucknow Players and team officials have been found guilty of breaching Level 1 of the IPL Code of Conduct during the IPL match against the Super Giants and have been fined 20 per cent of their match fees. Apart from this, one demerit point has also been added to his account.”

It said that Raghuvanshi has been found guilty of violating Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which pertains to causing damage to cricket equipment or clothing, field equipment etc. during a match. Let us tell you that Raghuvanshi has accepted the fine imposed by the match referee and admitted his mistake.
