The Congress-AAP alliance could not be formed for the Haryana elections. Three important reasons were given for the failure of the deal.

AAP wanted 20 seats. Later it had to agree to nine. However, Congress did not want to give more than five.

According to sources, “AAP would have agreed to even five seats but Congress was avoiding giving it the seats of its choice.”

Second reason- Both parties consider themselves strong. Congress has a whole cadre, while AAP also has government in two states.

The third reason for the deal not happening was that Congress’s Udaybhan-Bhupendra Hooda were not in favor of this alliance from the beginning.

AAP sources told The Indian Express that an “influential Congress leader” had “ruined” the chances.

The media report further quoted Congress leaders as saying that the differences are more regarding the selection of seats.

The Congress was not willing to give up seats like Kalayat, Pehowa, Kalayat, Jind, Guhla and Sohna (AAP wanted this).

AAP sources claimed that the Congress was giving it “weak seats”. Other sources blamed “Delhi Congressmen”.

The lack of a deal could impact the chances of India Block coming together with key allies in the Delhi elections 2025.
