Jharkhand Elections 2024: From the ruling party to the opposition parties in the state are seen trying hard for the Jharkhand Assembly elections 2024. On one hand, before the election dates, the state government led by Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader and CM Hemant Soren has made a big master stroke, while on the other hand, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has also come into action mode. In the cabinet meeting chaired by the CM on Monday (October 14, 2024), an important proposal was approved, under which it has been decided to give Rs 2,500 every month instead of Rs 1,000 to women under the much talked about ‘Maiyan Samman Yojana’. This information was given to news agency IANS by State Cabinet Secretary Vandana Dadel. He told that under the scheme, about 50 lakh women aged between 18 to 50 years are being given financial assistance. Till now the amount of three installments has been sent to their bank accounts. They will be given the benefit of increased amount from the month of December. In such a situation, instead of Rs 12 thousand, they will be given Rs 30 thousand annually.

It was told that 53 lakh women will benefit from it. However, due to this increase, the state government will have to spend an additional amount of about nine thousand crore rupees on this scheme. This decision of the cabinet is being considered as a big political bet of Hemant Soren government. After the implementation of the scheme, Mahila Samman Yatra is being organized by the government in different parts of the state. On October 5, BJP had announced to launch ‘Gogo Didi Yojana’ in response to ‘Maiyan Samman Yojana’, under which it has promised to give an amount of Rs 2,100 per month to women if the party forms the government in the state. After BJP’s announcement, Hemant Soren government has increased the amount of ‘Maiyan Samman Yojana’ by two and a half times within two months of its launch.

On the other hand, an important meeting of BJP’s election management committee was held in Ranchi on Monday regarding election strategy. During the meeting held under the chairmanship of State President Babulal Marandi and in the presence of Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan and Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, the roles and responsibilities of everyone from booth level workers to top leaders were discussed. It was decided that the party will campaign effectively on the issues related to the failures and broken promises of the present government of the state. After the meeting, Assam CM and Jharkhand election co-incharge Himanta Biswa Sarma said that it is certain that the Bharatiya Janata Party will form the government in the state. Meanwhile, Assam CM and Jharkhand election co-incharge Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Monday that the first list of candidates will be released within 24 to 48 hours after the announcement of elections in Jharkhand. Meetings have been held with many parties regarding seat sharing.
