BJP angry at Maulana Sajid Rashidi’s statement ‘Marriage of girls below 18 years of age’, said- ‘Country Constitution

BJP leaders strongly criticized All India Imam Association President Maulana Sajid Rashidi on the issue of marriage of girls below 18 years of age. He said that India is governed by the Constitution, not by Sharia. Leader of Opposition in Jharkhand Assembly Babulal Marandi said that those who do not want to live according to the Constitution should leave the country.

Marandi said, “Those who had said that Hindus and Muslims cannot live together, they demanded Pakistan and India was divided, they went to Pakistan. I think if he (Maulana Sajid Rashidi) has any problem in living here as per the Constitution, then such people should go to Pakistan. If they do not have money to go, then the Indian government will arrange for their tickets but the Indian Constitution is in force in India and the country will run according to it. Indians will have to follow it strictly.”

BJP MP Brijlal said that the country is run under the Constitution and not under religious laws. His statement that rapes are taking place due to increasing age is absolutely wrong. Earlier girls of 10 years of age were married and even then they were ill-treated. I condemn those people who repeatedly talk about Sharia-Sharia, this country is not based on Sharia. “Will do.”
