Cyclone Warning: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning on Monday, September 2, regarding a cyclone rising from the Bay of Bengal. The Meteorological Department has said that there is a possibility of heavy rain in the coming 12 hours due to the low pressure area. The Meteorological Department said that South-East Vidarbha and Telangana, Chandrapur (Maharashtra) will be at the center of this cyclone.

According to the weather bulletin for the next seven days issued by the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heavy rain in Vidarbha on September 2. There is a risk of mild to moderate floods in some catchment areas and adjoining areas of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Telangana, Western Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Gujarat region, Telangana and Marathwada.
Apart from this, Marathwada, Assam and Meghalaya will receive heavy rainfall on 2nd and 3rd September. In Gujarat, Saurashtra and Kutch will receive very heavy rainfall on 3rd September.
What will be the impact of the cyclone?
The Meteorological Department has said that due to cyclone and heavy rains, there will be problems like flooding on local roads, waterlogging in low-lying areas. Along with this, visibility will also decrease due to heavy rainfall. There is a possibility of traffic disruption in major cities due to waterlogging on the roads. Apart from this, the Meteorological Department has said that there is a possibility of damage to weak structures in the affected areas.
The Meteorological Department suggested some measures
The Meteorological Department has advised to take some precautions in view of heavy rains and cyclone in the affected areas. The department has said that black gram and green gram crops should be collected at safe places in Vidarbha, Marathwada and Ghat areas of Central Maharashtra. Apart from this, to avoid waterlogging in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Konkan and Goa, Western Madhya Pradesh, South Gujarat, Kerala and coastal Karnataka, make an additional way for the drainage of water accumulated in standing crops and fruit orchards.
Maize, groundnut, ragi, vegetables, niger and banana in South Odisha; Rice, maize, sugarcane, red gram, cotton, groundnut, vegetables and horticultural crops in Andhra Pradesh; Measures to prevent waterlogging in rice, soybean, red gram, maize, cotton and turmeric in Telangana.
