We have received the decisive mandate and now the priority is to come up with a comprehensive plan for government formation.” This includes finalizing the portfolios of ministers and distribution of key posts like district guardian ministers.” He said this approach stems from a desire to avoid confrontation between the coalition partners.

Elaborating on the issue, another BJP insider cited the example of Raigarh district MLA Mahendra Thorve, who had earlier this year replaced Nationalist Congress Party’s Aditi Tatkare as the district guardian minister due to long-standing local rivalries. The Maharashtra Cabinet can have a maximum of 43 ministers at both the cabinet and state levels in the 288-member state assembly. A party leader said, “There is a lot of pressure on the central leadership as the Parliament session continues. He is holding meetings with Maharashtra BJP leaders and allies and is also managing the House in Parliament.”

When will the name of CM be announced?
Regarding the announcement of the chief ministerial candidate, the source said, “The BJP central unit will appoint an observer or team of observers who will visit Mumbai. They will meet MLAs and senior party functionaries to finalize the Cabinet formula. A Once that is done, they will announce the party’s choice for leader of the legislature party.”

Shinde-Fadnavis ahead
