ED raids 7 locations in 2 states! Crores of rupees cash recovered, know the whole matter

ED Action In NAMCO Bank Scam: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has seized Rs 13.5 crore in cash by raiding 7 locations in Ahmedabad and Mumbai in a major scam related to misuse of bank accounts in Malegaon. This case is related to fake accounts of Nashik Merchant Co-operative Bank (NAMCO) and Bank of Maharashtra.

ED investigation has revealed that 14 new accounts were opened in NAMCO Bank, in which an amount of more than Rs 100 crore was deposited. 5 similar accounts were also found in the Nashik branch of Bank of Maharashtra. Siraj Ahmed Mohammad Harun Memon and his associates are accused of opening these accounts by misusing the identity documents of innocent persons.

ED action

In November, raids were conducted at 25 places in Mumbai, Surat, Ahmedabad and Nashik and Rs 5.2 crore in cash and important documents were seized. Recently, Rs 13.5 crore in cash was recovered in raids at 7 places in Ahmedabad and Mumbai.

Vote Jihad case

The issue of vote jihad was raised fiercely during the assembly elections in Maharashtra, on this issue BJP leader Kirit Somaiya claimed that this funding was done from Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, West Bengal and other states. Kirit had filed a complaint in the Election Commission in this matter, an FIR has been lodged against ‘Marathi Muslim Federation’. BJP leader Kirit Somaiya had alleged that funding of Rs 125 crore was done for “vote jihad” in Malegaon through fake accounts.

ED’s investigation has revealed that the money was transferred to different places using 21 fake firms and accounts. Hundreds of crores of rupees in cash were withdrawn through these fake accounts. In this case, these two persons Nagni Akram Mohammad Shafi and Wasim Walimohammed Bhesniya were arrested under Section 19 of PMLA, 2002. A total of Rs 18.7 crore (5.2 crore + 13.5 crore) cash has been recovered so far, digital evidence and documents were also seized.
