‘Hindus are being targeted, India should protect them’, RSS appeals to Modi government on violence in Bangladesh

Bangladesh Violence Updates: Violence has increased a lot in Bangladesh in the last few days. Shops are being looted at many places and government offices have been set on fire. The protests that started against reservation have taken a violent turn and Sheikh Hasina herself had to leave the post of PM and run away. The minority Hindu community is also being targeted in the violence in the neighboring country. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has expressed concern over this.

Former RSS General Secretary and member of All India Executive, Suresh Bhaiyyaji Joshi has said, “Bangladesh is a separate country and we have some limits in working there as a voluntary organization. But we have appealed to the government to ensure the safety of Hindus there and we are confident that the government will take strict action. The news that is coming from there, it seems that Hindus are being targeted there. The government needs to take appropriate action.”

Hindu temples vandalized, shops set on fire

Amidst the violence, houses and shops of Bangladeshi Hindus have been set on fire in many districts of the country. Temples have also been damaged. Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council said that 200 to 300 Hindu houses and shops have been vandalized. Nearly two dozen Hindu temples have also come under the target of the miscreants. So far, more than 40 people of the minority community have been injured in the violence. Let us tell you that the Hindu community has been a supporter of Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League.

Where did violence against Hindus take place?

Hindus have been targeted by rioters in more than 20 districts of Bangladesh. Mob terror continues in places like Panchagarh, Dinajpur, Bogura, Rangpur, Sherpur Kishoreganj, Sirajganj, Mugra, Narail, West Jashore, Patuakhali, South-West Khulna, Central Narsingdi, Satkhira, Tangail, Feni Chittagong, North-West Lakkhipur and Habiganj. They have not only been attacked, but their properties have also been looted. 8 percent of the population in Bangladesh is of minority Hindus.
