How Moong is becoming the first choice of farmers of Western UP, it gives huge profits at low cost.

Moong Farming Tips: After the end of potato digging and wheat harvesting in districts like Agra, Mathura, Aligarh and Firozabad of Western UP, moong is now being cultivated on a large scale. In earlier times, fields were left fallow for some time after wheat and potato crops. But now farmers are giving priority to moong as the third crop in this free time.

In this entire area of Agra division, sowing of moong starts immediately after harvesting of wheat. This Zaid crop, which is ready within just 90 days, gets ready in a short time. The water requirement for growing it is very limited and farmers get direct and good prices from this crop at very low cost.

Getting good profits in short time

The biggest advantage of this farming is low input cost. This crop, sown immediately after digging of wheat and potatoes in the month of March, is completely ready for harvest by the beginning of June. That is, the time that was vacant between the two main crops. This is its smartest use.

Those who cultivate it in Agra and surrounding areas say that the cost per hectare is only around seven to eight thousand rupees. In return for this nominal expenditure, farmers can easily get an excellent yield of about 12 to 15 quintals per hectare.

saving fertilizer and water

Another great feature of this moong cultivation is that it itself works like a natural fertilizer. Being a pulse crop, its roots work to increase nitrogen in the soil. Due to which the fertility of the field automatically improves and money for fertilizer is saved in the next crop. Farmers are using organic fertilizers instead of expensive chemicals. Due to which the quality of the crop is becoming number one.

Bumper demand in the market

Talking about the market, the prices of moong are always very strong in the market and it is sold at a price of six to seven thousand rupees per quintal. This crop is becoming very popular in this entire belt because of giving many times more profits at low cost.
