‘The allegations are false and mischievous’
India has called the Reuters report mischievous and completely false. The Foreign Ministry said, ‘India complies with its international obligations with full fairness. India also has a strong legal and regulatory framework for exports. India’s record in the export of defense materials is impeccable. The end user’s responsibilities and certifications are also evaluated under all norms. India’s image has been shown wrongly in the Reuters report.
‘All activities are legal’
The Ministry of External Affairs said, ‘The regulatory framework for defense exports has always ensured that all international laws and agreements are fully followed. There is no room for any kind of mistake under this. All activities of India are completely within the ambit of the law and no irregularities have ever been observed.’
What is the Reuters report?
A Reuters report claimed that Indian weapons sold through manufacturers have reached Ukraine via Europe, including artillery shells. It was also alleged that Russia intervened in this matter but even then no action was taken by India to stop this purchase and sale. It was also claimed that the export of weapons has been going on for the last one year.
