Bihar News: There is definitely time for the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, but preparations have started. The biggest thing is that new parties are entering. First, Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party and now RCP Singh’s ‘ASA’ party is ready to enter the fray. On the other hand, India Alliance and NDA are mainly in the field. Meanwhile, the biggest thing that has come to light is that the agenda of RCP Singh is matching with that of election strategist Prashant Kishore. Both of them can directly cause tension to CM Nitish Kumar.
In fact, even before forming the party, Prashant Kishore had announced that if our government is formed in 2025, the first task will be to abolish the prohibition law in Bihar. Now, with the announcement of the party, RCP Singh has also said that in a way, the prohibition will be ended. He did not speak openly on this, but opposed the liquor ban.
While announcing the party on Thursday (October 31), he clearly said that you cannot restrict anyone’s eating habits. We will organize a public awareness program to stop alcohol. The government is facing a loss of several thousand crores due to liquor ban. There is a need to reform the prohibition law. We have said it before and I am saying it even today.
Will prohibition be an issue in the 2025 elections?
It has become clear from RCP Singh’s statement on liquor prohibition that liquor prohibition can definitely become a big issue of law in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. Along with this, the biggest question is whether Prashant Kishore and RCP Singh can defeat Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in the election field through this issue?
Senior journalist Santosh Kumar, who has an understanding of Bihar politics, said that first Prashant Kishore and now RCP Singh have raised the issue of liquor ban. However, this is not going to make any difference to Nitish Kumar. Liquor prohibition was implemented in 2016. After that Lok Sabha elections were held in 2019. Bihar Assembly elections were held in 2020. In such a situation, there has been no reduction in Nitish Kumar’s vote bank of 13 to 14%.
‘RCP Singh can damage the vote bank’
Santosh Kumar said that the prohibition law is good in the eyes of women. Liquor is being sold illegally in Bihar but people are also afraid of the prohibition law. In such a situation, this issue is not going to have any impact on the elections. It is a different matter that RCP Singh has played an important role in the JDU organization for a long time. He is recognized in all the districts. He has claimed that candidates will be ready on 140 seats tomorrow (October 31, 2024), so he can cause some damage to Nitish Kumar’s vote bank.
