The State Election Commission of Jharkhand has admitted that Congress violated the rules by releasing the manifesto during the ‘silent period’. The Commission has sent the report to the Election Commission. Congress had released its manifesto on Tuesday (November 12) evening, after which a complaint was lodged by BJP in the Election Commission.
Congress has made a total of seven promises in its manifesto. This includes promises like Rs 2500 to women, gas cylinder for Rs 450, 7 kg ration to every person, 10 lakh jobs and health insurance up to Rs 15 lakh.
Earlier, BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra accused Congress of violating the Constitution and election rules and demanded the Election Commission to take action against Congress. Addressing the media at the BJP national headquarters, Sambit Patra said that today is the 13th and voting is going on in Jharkhand. According to the Constitution, democracy is being celebrated in Jharkhand and this is the beauty of India.
Patra further said that there is a national party in this country which keeps flouting the Constitution from time to time. There is a silent period of 48 hours before voting. According to election rules, no political party can campaign nor release its manifesto during these 48 hours. No big leader can hold a rally at that time. No one is unaware of this rule.
The BJP leader alleged that the so-called veteran leader of the Congress party, Rahul Gandhi, does not take the Election Commission seriously. He has always been against the Election Commission and the way Rahul Gandhi’s party has trashed the Election Commission yesterday, the state unit of BJP has complained about it to the Election Commission. Election Commission should take action against Congress.
