On Sunday (July 19), TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee has issued a statement. His statement has come against the permission given by Om Birla to the rebel MPs to sit separately in the House.

He said that the decision to give separate seats to 20 rebel MPs was not as expected. Disqualification petitions against rebel MPs are already pending with the Speaker. No action was taken before taking decisions on these.

According to ANI, Banerjee said, ‘We have already filed petitions before the Speaker demanding disqualification on the grounds of defection. In such a situation, the Speaker’s recognition of them (rebel MPs) without taking any decision on those 20 petitions was not as expected.

Opposition from rebel MPs seen in all-party meeting
This entire incident happened when Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju invited rebel TMC leaders Sudip Bandyopadhyay and Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar to attend the all-party meeting. In protest against this, opposition leaders came out immediately after the start of the meeting and lodged a symbolic protest.

TMC MP Mahua Moitra said that the opposition parties have opposed the government’s decision. Today the entire opposition including Congress, Samajwadi Party, DMK, JMM, AAP, National Conference, Left parties and Shiv Sena have walked out from the all-party meeting.

The logic behind this protest is that NCPI is an unrecognized party, it has been shown along with 28 members of All India Trinamool Congress in the list given by the table office. The Speaker has not yet approved the merger of these so-called rebel MPs.

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has said that all the opposition parties have walked out for a few minutes from the all-party meeting. This was in protest against the government’s decision in which NCPI has been invited. Monsoon session is going to start on 20th July. In such a situation, the opposition is in a mood to corner the government on many issues. Apart from this, the delimitation bill will be tabled again. This is an amendment bill.
