Karnataka ready for voting, PM Modi gave video message, Congress issued affidavit

Karnataka Assembly Elections 2023: After weeks of campaigning in Karnataka, it is the turn of the public who will exercise their franchise on Wednesday (May 10) to seal the fate of the candidates in the EVMs. After this, on May 13, it will be known on whose head the crown of power will be tied. In order to keep the BJP in power, veteran leaders of the party, including PM Modi, held massive rallies. Whereas Congress and JDS also gave full strength in the election campaign. A day before the polling, the leaders were also seen in the temples of Bajrangbali. Know the big things related to Karnataka elections.

1. Making a strong pitch for the return of the BJP-led government in the state a day ahead of polling, Prime Minister Modi on Tuesday said he has received unprecedented affection in the state in the last few days and this has fueled his efforts to make the state number one in all sectors. The determination has become stronger. He also sought people’s blessings in the campaign to make Karnataka the number one state in the country.

2. Through a video message, he said that the dream of every citizen of Karnataka is my dream. Your resolution is my resolution. If we come together and focus our attention towards one goal, then no power in the world can stop us. The Congress on Tuesday termed Prime Minister Modi’s video message as a clear violation of the model code of conduct in the context of the Karnataka assembly elections and urged the Election Commission to take action against the prime minister while discharging his constitutional duty. The main opposition party also said that this is a litmus test for the Election Commission.

3. Congress general secretary and party’s Karnataka in-charge Randeep Surjewala has complained against the Prime Minister’s video message by giving a representation to the Election Commission. In this he included Home Minister Amit Shah, Bharatiya Janata Party President JP Nadda and Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. Yogi Adityanath Referring to the statements of, said that during the election campaign in Karnataka, the BJP leaders have openly violated the code of conduct.

4. All the Congress candidates took a written pledge on Tuesday that they would implement the five guarantees after the party’s victory in the assembly elections. Party president Mallikarjun Kharge tweeted that all our candidates in Karnataka have resolved that they will implement the five guarantees. He has also resolved to fight against corruption and work for the progress of Karnataka. He also shared the affidavits signed by the candidates.

5. In the election campaign of Karnataka, there was a lot of ruckus regarding Lord Hanuman. A day before the voting, many leaders were also seen visiting Bajrangbali. Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and state unit president of Congress DK Shivakumar and former CM Siddaramaiah visited Anjaneya temples.

6. CM Bommai went to Vijayanagar temple in Hubballi and recited Hanuman Chalisa with the devotees present there. Whereas, Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah went to the temple located in KR Market in Bengaluru and offered prayers. These visits assume significance in the wake of the controversy arising out of the proposal made in the election manifesto of Congress to ban Bajrang Dal. Before voting, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi tweeted that 5 guarantees of Congress will give relief to the people of Karnataka from the pain given by the 40% commission government of BJP.

7. Bharatiya Janata Party and Prime Minister Narendra ModiBoth of them used this issue to accuse Congress of being against Lord Anjaneya and sentiments of Hindus. He repeatedly proclaimed ‘Jai Bajrangbali’ during the campaign. Other Congress leaders, including Shivakumar, have stuck to the resolution made in the manifesto, saying that Lord Anjaneya or Bajrang Dal are two different things and cannot be compared with each other.

8. The Election Commission has made special preparations for free, fair and uninterrupted elections. Elaborate security arrangements have been made in the state and forces have been deployed from neighboring states. Voting will be held at 58,545 polling stations across the state. Special facilities have been arranged for the elderly, disabled, women.

9. Talking about the big faces of Karnataka elections, Chief Minister and BJP leader Basavaraj Bommai is contesting from Shiggaon seat. Congress veteran and former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah from Varuna Assembly seat, Janata Dal (Secular) leader and former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy from Channapatna constituency, DK Shivakumar from Kanakapura Assembly seat, former CM Jagadish Shettar from Hubli Dharwad (Central) Assembly seat From, BS Yeddyurappa’s son BY Vijayendra from Shikarpura seat, Mallikarjun Kharge’s son Priyank Kharge from Chittapur assembly seat.

10. A total of 5,31,33,054 voters will be able to exercise their franchise in Karnataka. These voters will decide the electoral fate of 2,615 candidates. Among the voters, 2,67,28,053 are male, 2,64,00,074 are female and 4,927 are others. Among the candidates, 2,430 are male, 184 are female and one candidate is from the other gender. There are 11,71,558 young voters in the state, while 5,71,281 are physically challenged and 12,15,920 are above 80 years of age.
