Pinarayi Vijayan on Uniform Civil Code: The debate about Uniform Civil Code (UCC) is going on across the country. Many opposition parties are strongly opposing the UCC and attacking the central government. Now Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan also targeted the BJP on the issue of Uniform Civil Code, alleging that it is the election agenda of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Pinarayi Vijayan said on Friday (June 30) that there is an election agenda behind the steps being taken by the BJP regarding the Uniform Civil Code. He also appealed to the Central Government to withdraw the steps taken in this regard.
What did Pinarayi Vijayan say on UCC?
Vijayan, leader of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M), said the Centre’s move could be seen as a plan to erase the country’s multi-cultural diversity and implement the communal agenda of the majority, ‘one country, one culture’. He said that the Central Government and the Law Commission should withdraw the steps taken in the context of the Uniform Civil Code.

CM Pinarayi Vijayan said that stirring up the debate around the Uniform Civil Code is an election ploy of the Sangh Parivar with its agenda of deepening the communal divide. Resist any attempt to undermine India’s pluralism and support reforms through democratic discussions within communities.
