Karnataka Crime News: A shocking case has come to light from Ramnagar, Karnataka, where a woman sold her child to pay off her husband’s debt. The matter came to light when the woman’s husband lodged a complaint with the police that his son was missing. The husband had expressed suspicion on the wife, after which the police started investigating. The woman saved her 30-day-old newborn for Rs 1.5 lakh. At present the police has arrested the woman. Two associates of the woman and the buyer have also been arrested.
Father lodged report
The child has been rescued and sent to the child welfare home in Mandya. The woman’s husband had lodged a complaint with the police on December 7, 2024, that his newborn son was missing from home and he suspected something wrong with the connivance of his wife. Both husband and wife work as daily wage laborers and have five children. Due to low income, the couple was facing difficulties in running the household.
Had talked about selling the child earlier also
According to a Times of India report, the father told the police, “I have a loan of more than Rs 3 lakh and my wife had suggested to me a few days ago that we sell our newborn baby to a childless couple to repay the loan.” He can take money, but I flatly refused and said that he should never think like this.”
The newborn’s father told the police, “On the evening of December 5, I returned home from work and found that my son was missing. When I inquired, my wife told me that he had some health issues and she had sent him to a relative. Confident of this, I had dinner and went to work and returned at night, but again there was no sign of my son and my wife repeated the same thing. She had said it before, but this time I had doubts.”
Woman sold child for Rs 1.5 lakh
The complainant said, “When I became suspicious, I asked my wife for the number of the doctor or the relative who had my son, but she refused. This led to a scuffle between us.” After the complaint, the lady police went to meet the child’s mother. According to the report, an investigating officer said, “The accused had tried to mislead by saying that the child was with his relative.” However, after this the woman confessed that she sold her child to a single woman in Bengaluru for Rs 1.5 lakh.
