India NIA Search Operation: India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday (November 11) conducted a large-scale search operation across the country against suspects associated with the terrorist organization Al Qaeda. Under this operation, investigation was conducted at nine places including Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, West Bengal, Bihar, Tripura and Assam. This action of NIA is important towards strengthening the country’s security and defense policy regarding terrorism. During the raid, many digital devices, banking documents and evidence have been revealed, due to which the case of terror funding has come to light.
According to NIA, these suspects are related to Bangladesh based Al Qaeda network. This group was conspiring to instigate and fund Indian youth to promote terrorist activities in India. This NIA raid is related to a case registered in 2023, in which it is alleged that the suspects had taken charge of funding terrorist activities.
Terror funding revealed by evidence found in raid
NIA has seized many digital devices during the operation, including mobile phones and other digital mediums. Banking documents recovered from them indicated terror funding from Bangladesh. According to NIA, contacts of many Bangladeshi citizens who were funding Al Qaeda have been revealed, through whom the funds were transported to India. The investigation also includes mobile data, bank transactions and other digital information, which points towards a terror funding network.
Conspiracy to instigate Indian youth
NIA said in its statement that the suspects were trying to fund Al Qaeda and radicalize the youth in India. The aim of the accused was to attract Indian youth towards radical ideology and involve them in terrorist activities. Many Bangladeshi citizens allegedly associated with Al Qaeda were involved in this effort, who were doing all this in collaboration with Indian citizens.
Important step of NIA
In this operation, NIA had also filed a charge sheet in November last year, in which the names of four Bangladeshi citizens and one Indian citizen, Farid, were included. The evidence collected by the NIA shows that the accused had organized funding for terrorist activities. This action of NIA is part of the ongoing operation against terrorism along with strengthening the security of India.
